I am always afraid of repeating a mistake in the past?!

Question: I am always afraid of repeating a mistake in the past?
When I was age 16 - 21 I enjoyed life like everyone else. I only worried about problems until they presented themselves, and tried to be as happy as possible. However one day my car broke down... then the repairs were too expensive, more than I had in my savings account. Then I lost my job since I had no transportation to work. Then I had to move back in with my dad and at the time I was a model hitting the gym hard every day but with no car and job I lost the gym membership and got fat for the first time in my life.

However I never give up so I used this time living at home to learn a new skill, and begin working out hard again and now I am a business owner with my own new house and new car and a great body. However I will never forget the day I lost it all, so I track every penny and any time an expense hits me over $20 dollars I get put back a little. So I can never really relax and have fun since back then when I relaxed and had fun that is when the problems crept up on me out of nowhere. How can I enjoy life without the fear of losing it all again? My dad passed away so now it is more serious since if I have money problems I may be kicked out in the street.

Welcome to the real world, most of us spend at good part of our lives concerned about finances and making ends meet. Its just sensible to be aware and in control of your monetary situation

As corny as it sounds, balance is the key. You should work hard when you are young. You should put away the majority of your pay check. You need an emergency fund especially now you don't have anyone to depend on.

You need to buy generics and shop at dollar stores. And you need to get rid of things like cable tv and any other money drains that are necessary. If you have a good busing system in your city, use it. You will save money on car expenses like gas, car repairs, maintenance of brakes and tires and car insurance. If you need a car get one that you can buy in cash and get liability only and the lowest liability your state allows. Be kind to your car and only drive it when absolutely needed. No joy riding. The more ware you put on the car the soon you break it down.

Get two jobs if you can. Don't eat out but once a week. Work hard when you are young so that you don't have to be a bum when your older looking for cans and bottles to cash in. This should easy your mind. Take a break on your day off of work and enjoy life. Get back to the business of building your future on the rest of the days. If you do this then you don't have to worry. You should put the money you save into a safety deposit box at your bank so that you are not tempted to spend your savings or you don't spend them by accident.
