I started when I was in 5th grade. I dont know how to stop now in 7th grade. Hel!

Question: I started when I was in 5th grade. I dont know how to stop now in 7th grade. Help?
I started cutting in 5th grade. I'm in 7th now and I can't stop. When I try I can't sleep and I get nausea when I go even two days without cutting. I take a bunch of sleeping pills at night. Sometimes as much as 3 times what I am suppose to. Could this be a problem? My aunt knows but I dont see her often. (she was a cutter) My friends know about it but they hang it over my head. (similar to blackmail) Is there anything I can do?

Answers:

Glad you are asking. Cutting is considered an addiction to the hormonal response that occurs after one cuts. It is also considered a mental illness, because one is cutting instead of dealing with feelings that are extra painful for the person. That your aunt is a cutter, is significant statement about something is going on in your family .
You do need professional help now, if you cannot stop.
That you are also abusing drugs, perscription drugs are not to be taken like that either, means you need professional help.

You must stop taking the sleeping pills like that, you are harming your liver and kidneys, and you could make a mistake and take too many.
You have to get help .
I don't know hwat you mean by 'blackmail', but if they support you to quit harming yourself and seek help , then they are being good friends.

Talk to your parents, make them understand and try to get them to take you to a psychologist. Don't be worried about seeing a psychologist it doesn't mean your crazy, most people have seen a psychologist in their life because mental health is just as important as physical health. A method I would try to make you stop would be to gradually reduce the amount of times you cut yourself, until you can stop completely, this has a better chance of succeeding than stopping all at once.

Okay. 1-those aren't friends. They don't care, so dont talk to them. 2-talk to your school counselor. Tell him that you've been cutting for a while and can't stop. Tell your parents. play a game with yourself, if you don't cut yourself, you can go do something fun. like go to a spa or whatever. Get help. Iknw how bad nausea is(nerve damage in stomach) but it will pass if you don't think about it.

take 4 days you can be sleeping or alone or something. It's an addiction right? What your probably experincing is your body fighting you because it wants it. Weird right? So even if you get nausea, fight back and o 4 days without. If you get over that, your good.
