Do I have obsessive compulsive disorder or just an anxiety problem?!

Question: Do I have obsessive compulsive disorder or just an anxiety problem?
I was in a car crash a few months ago and it was terrifying for me. Now every time I am in a car my heart races, my palms sweat, I am very tense, and i usually start crying if cars are going to fast around me. I have this constant feeling like I am inevitably going to die. It is not just a little worry, I honestly feel that sitting in that car is the last moments of my life. I thought this would get better but it has only gotten worse. I really do not know what is wrong with me, plenty of people have gotten into car crashes and get right back into driving like nothing ever happened. Now keep in mind I was in the passenger seat, not driving. I also was not injured at ALL. So I really do not know why I am THIS afraid. Please, I would appreciate some advice.

Answers:

Anxiety: very likely.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder: NO.

Do a little research on OCD. I'm a sufferer of it. That may help you :)

First of all...you shouldnt be driving if you are feeling that way. Sounds like severe anxiety that needs to be addressed. Talk to your dr about this, he/she will probably prescribe an anti-anxiety med, and more so some therapy. Could also be PTSD as well (posttramatic stress disorder) Either way, talk to your dr and DONT be driving until you feel comfortable enouigh to do so.

It sounds like an anxiety problem to me. If I were you, I'd talk with a psychologist (shrink) and see why this is happening to you.

Maybe try consulting a therapist? Itll really help!
