I think I may have adult ADD. What do I do?!

Question: I think I may have adult ADD. What do I do?
I'm 18 and in college. I was once diagnosed with ADD in 1st grade, but that was believed to be a misdiagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome some years later. The two conditions may be co-morbid.

I've noticed that I can't control my impulses. I can't even stop myself from writing this.
I just want to be able to sit down and have a productive night of doing homework so I don't fail a very important English class. I must find some way to make myself do what I want! How the hell will I maintain a job if I can't do this? Why am I so impulsive? I can't concentrate on something that is not intrinsically rewarding.

Homework is just not intrinsically rewarding to me. I can see the long-term goal of a degree and a fulfilling career, but it's so far away that it doesn't motivate me at all. It may motivate you or other people, but I find it hard to muse on. When something doesn't pay off immediately, I lose all interest. I'd say that's a terrible habit considering that persistence is a necessity in school. Is there anything I can do to fix this situation so I can get on with school?

By the way, I hate school passionately. It's only functional purpose is to see if you're willing to do **** you don't want to do (which is evidently preparation for the workforce).

Any advice you can give is appreciated. That includes flame; I'm used to it. :)

Oo. I am having the same issue. I"ve been answering Yahoo Answer questions since 6:00 with a dinner break.. it's 2:44 here now.. I can't stop. and I have a final project to finish tonight that I must pass to take the portfolio review next term that I need to take the upper division classes next year.

wail you can't do anything tonight in the way of medications, you should look into home remedies. I've read that green tea is good. And cat nip tea. I'm really glad that your question came up, or I would be more likely to continue this yahoo questions bindge i'm on.

AND if you don't need the internet for your homework, turn it off. There is also a good App for google Chrome (which is a free browser) that is called StayFocused. You can limit how much time you spend on Yahoo answers, Face book, whatever other site that you could distract yourself with. And it wont let you change the settings once you've run out of time for the day.

I'm going to go try some Cat nip tea now, since I have some for my cat.

there are some more herbal supplements you might find in your drawer.

And for future days. Just call your doctor, tell him/her about your concerns regarding school. They'll take care of you.

Edit: ugh.. I'm still on my binge
