If you start taking meds and overdosing and than stop and go to the E.R.. Can yo!

Question: If you start taking meds and overdosing and than stop and go to the E.R.. Can you talk to someone?
If someone starts taking meds with the intention of overdosing, and than stops, and decides to go to the E.R..even if they took too many pills, can they just go to the E.R. and make sure they're physically okay but not have to drink charcoal or anything like that.

Answers:

If you go to the ER and notify them you might have overdosed it can go either of two ways. If they determine it was accidental they will just give you blood work and might give you charcole depending on how many you tell them you take. If it was an obvious attempt at overdosing, say you took over 10 at one time instead of 3 or 4, they have the right (by law) to give you charcole, or hold you and put a tube down your throat, and then send you to psych triage where you will be held for at least 72 hours to be seen and treated by a psychiatrist. You can fight it and go to court, court usually wins tho and sends you to the hospital.

They'll still take you very seriously. You might have to drink charcoal but it depends what you've taken and how much. They will have to do physical checks and a psychiatric evaluation but it's unlikely you'll be detained because you've managed to stop yourself from completing the suicide/attempt and therefore they will amost certainly deem you mentally fit not to be detained.

Feel free to email me. I know how you feel!

Been there, done that.

You may have to drink the charcoal, but they need to help you out to make sure you're not harmed from this!

Not only that, but I've taken too many pills with intentions before and I got a bad headache and felt sick to my stomach. The charcoal might taste nasty, but it can keep you from that.

depends on the pills you have taken but please get some help we don't want to lose you
good luck
