XANEX ADDICTION Question. DR rights?!

Question: XANEX ADDICTION Question. DR rights?
My Brother just got out of De-tox for Pain Killers. He has also been using xanex at very high dosages, but is being prescribed them. He has been using Xanex in progressivley higher dosages over the last 2 years and is unmistakenley dependent and is using Xanex to counteract the stress and anxiety caused only by the addiction itself. Can I confront the Dr.? Is this legal?

Answers:

I think his doctor has a screw loose. If your brother just got out of De-tox for an addiction to pain killers, I can't imagine a good doctor allowing him to get addicted to Xanax. You can certainly express your concerns to his doctor, but I think he needs a new doctor. Just keep in mind his doctor may not be receptive to you questioning his methods. But I know people who have elderly parents and they call their doctors if they have questions about their parents treatment, or why they're on certain medications.

Unless you are the legal guardian of your brother and he is under 18 or mentally handicapped - NO
you cannot confront his doctor. It's none of your business.

Xanax is for stress and anxiety. If he is having issues with stress and anxiety then he probably needs to take them.

Yes, it is legal for the doc to give Xanax to him. And yes it is addictive. Everybody knows that.
You have to ween yourself off of them when you stop taking them.
