If I tell my counselor I'm suicidal what will he do?!

Question: If I tell my counselor I'm suicidal what will he do?
I see my school counselor weekly and he knows I'm depressed and cutting. The last time I was there he asked me if I thought about hurting myself further. I said no b/c I didn't at the time. now I'm Feeling suicidal and want to act on it when I'm further depressed. If I tell him this what exactly will he do/ what will happen? I'm under 16

There is no real answer to this- but one thing I can tell you is that it often helps to tell someone about this stuff. If he is a good counselor (which I assume he is because you are already working with him) then whatever happens he will do his job. This may mean that you have to go into some form of therapy, but know that that is much better then the alternative, that you will kill yourself. Whether it is your counselor or another person you trust, you want to talk about this, as killing yourself is NOT an option. I may sound like a broken record, but having a long talk with someone else who is reliable and close to you can really take the strain off you, and can allow you to vent your frustrations in a safe way.
