should I take these meds?!

Question: Should I take these meds?
My Doctor has prescribed me Temazepam to help me sleep untill i see my psychiatrist because I tried to kill my self yesterday, but the pharmacist rang the doctor and asked if she was sure because it reacts badly with my other meds (trifluperazine and imipramine) but my doctor said go ahead as its short term, but the leaflet says do not take if you have anxiety/depression or are taking meds for eithr of these, do I take them, i really want to sleep but my anxiety is bad right now I dont wanna make it worse

Answers:

All medications will interact to some degree with other medications. Even something as seemingly innocent as paracetamol/acetaminophen will interact with some other drugs.

Go ahead, do take your medication as prescribed, because Temazepam is useful drug in reducing anxiety and inducing sleep. As you said, it is for the short term only.

Your doctor would have weighed up the benefits versus potential side effects before prescribing Temazepam, and obviously decided the benefits outweigh the potential side effects.

Just because a drug CAN interact with other medications, does not mean it will. It varies from person to person, and right now it does sound like you could use a little extra to calm you down.

Why would try to take your life? tomorrow is a new day, don't let the worries get to you, worry for nothing, don't take any of those meds, they are what is trying to get you. You know there is medications out there that will make you believe the unbelievable? Get it together, get on with your life, It is not worth giving up, Life is precious, You know nobody wants to die, when they are ready, they have no choice, they go, but they are alone, no friends, scared, don't know what to expect. Is there a heaven? hell? God? What is happening? well, If you don't worry about it, you won't be thinking about it. Have you ever wondered why the Psycho hospitals are full? People worry too much. They worry about the stock market and kill themselves and you know what,? The new day comes and it's ok, but they thought it was the end. They are gone, but life goes on.

they would have taking into consideration your meds that you already take and its prob a small dose
if you have unwanted side effects then talk to your dr but there are other sleeping tabs out there that may be better suited to your other medication
#
they may react with the other meds in the longer term but your dr want to get your anxiety and depression under control in the immediate time
best wishes

Do we look like pharmacologists? This is like another "am I pregnant" question.

Well look, doctor said it's short-term, right? Well here's your answer. You can take them. The warning is there to warn you & so that they can avoid lawsuits. It would probably affect you on a long-term usage. THEN it's dangerous, not now.

They are regulations in these instances.
It wont make anxiety worse - will probably more like sedate you.
At the end of the day the doctor is trying to keep you alive so trust them and hang in there there is light at the end of the tunnel when you really opne your eyes to see it

thats an awful lot of temazepam... do whatever's right for you, but remember the temazapam is highly addictive, so only take it when desperate.

its safe, the warnings are written by lawyers
it helps to relax you by breathing deep and slow
