can zoloft cause bi polar disorder ?!

Question: Can zoloft cause bi polar disorder ?
Answers:

How long have you been taking this? A bit of increased anxiety at the beginning is nothing to worry about. If your moods are shifting from very high to very low quickly, then you need to talk to your doctor. This might not be right for you. If you didn't have bipolar disorder before, Zoloft will not make you have it.

No, Zoloft cannot cause Bipolar disorder, but it can exacerbate it if it is used by itself in treatment. You need a mood stabilizer.

As it was explained to me, treating bipolar is like an Oreo cookie. You want to have a hard cookie on both sides and the good stuff in between. The good stuff is where you want your moods to be. So, you need a good antidepressant on the bottom to keep you from going too low and a mood stabilizer on the top to keep you from going too high. If you just have the antidepressant, it will shoot you too high because there is nothing on top to keep you from going up.

Does that make sense?

If it did make you bipolar you wouldn't be in the right mind set to realize it. So i would have to say No.

No but it can make the symptoms worse if someone has had the disease prior to taking the medication.
