Does he have Schizophrenia?!

Question: Does he have Schizophrenia?
I'm starting to worry about my boyfriend.

3 days ago we had to leave our flat and stay at my parents' because he was convinced that a ghost or spirit was in the house.

He had been telling me personal things about his past (he was sexually abused) and this had gotten him depressed.
He had also had a bit to drink at the time.

He went very quiet.
I turned my back on him to get something and when I turned around he was holding his hood down over his face and wasn't moving. I asked him what he was doing, to which he gasped "oh my god that was so freaky!! oh my god". He claimed that a friend of his who died had came to him and told him to "wise up" and had said "what are you playing at, that's your missus there".

He then got up and left the room. I saw him pick up his crucifix and start praying like a mad man! He said he was hearing latin tongues and that something was coming to get him. He said the voice was telling him to "get out", but he later said it had wanted ME to get out! He said it had said that it wasn't him that was the problem but me. I panicked at the way he was behaving as it scared me. (I'm 6 months pregnant). I said we should leave and so we went outside.
He went back inside and I noticed the lights in the kitchen turn on and off over and over again. I wondered why he was doing this? At first he said he didn't see that happen when he was inside, and later he said he was in the bathroom and saw it. He then said he was in the bedroom and saw it happen. His story just didn't make sense - I know it was him who did it.
We stayed at my parents house and he seemed distant. I don't know if he suddenly felt bad for scaring me or what? Maybe he thinks those things really happened.

Other than this he has developed a stammer.
He has anger problems and can't control his temper.
He has also taken drugs in the past and smoked a lot of weed. Since I got pregnant he has promised not to and I don't think he has as there is no money missing.
He has no real facial expression most of the time and doesn't seem to understand when people get sensitive about things.
He can never explain how he is feeling and when he is speaking he always stops mid-sentence and forgets what he is saying.
He has also made up a couple of words and is convinced they are real when they aren't.

Could he have a mental disorder?

Answers:

I'm not sure if you're in the UK or not... if you are you should try to get your boyfriend to see your GP. If he refuses to go and continues to act strangely I suggest you contact your local community mental health team. If necessary they can arrange for someone to come out to him and assess him.
A lot of people experience a psychotic episode, but that doesn't mean they have Schizophrenia. 26% of people who have a psychotic episode never have one again so don't feel that you have to start labeling your boyfriend with something he might not have.
It sounds like he is struggling at the moment, but sounds like he has a great support in you. Look after yourself too... best of luck

Mental health professional

Leave.Could post lots of Info but he needs to sort himself out.

no dont leave, your pregnant with his child child (?) so im guessing you love him. get him to see a doctor or even a psychiatrist because they'll know whats going on. hope it gets better

Hi, yes it does sound like he is having problems with his mental health. Has anything traumatic happened recently that could be causing him extra stress? He really needs to see his GP asap, if he does have a mental health problem then it is very unlikely to improve on its own. The GP will need to know everything that has been happening and your boyfriend may not give the full account of the last 3 days so you will need to speak to the GP yourself, the GP can then decided on the best action to take.Good Luck.
