Question: Would you say that the 2% of americans that don't consume caffeine are the same 2 % that are mensa members.?
Answers:
I easily qualify for mensa, and I have had plenty of caffeine since i was about 16 years old. It could be that there was another cause of your problems, or that some people are affected badly by caffeine, and others are not. When I was a graduate student in geology & geophysics, I sat and drank coffee in the morning with coffee-drinking, world-famous research professors. If any of us had a creativity or IQ loss, it was not apparent.
This survey obviously includes you as a non-mensa member, so being among the lesser smarter group, how can you estimate such percentages and represent them to be even ballpark accurate?
It would be my consensus that mensa members are qualified by more than a "just barely making it" score, and so some caffeine consumption would not have such an effect as you would imply. At the very least, they would be smart enough to know how much caffeine they could safely consume without it having a strong enough effect that would kick them out of the group.
