Bipolar Medication. This is kind of long. Anyone have any suggestions?!

Question: Bipolar Medication. This is kind of long. Anyone have any suggestions?
A friend of mine has Bipolar Disorder. She has become very depressed. Her med provider has prescribed Geodon, but it has made her feel almost "fallen down drunk" as she puts it. It has been about 6 days since she started and the side effects have not lessened. She had tried Abilify prior to the Geodon, but that gave her blurry vision. Her med provider took her off Abilify and gave a script of Cogentin. Should she try taking that with Cogentin to lesson the "fallen down drunk" side effect or tell her med provider? She is currently taking Wellbutrin, but she is feeling more depressed than ever. Any suggestions that she might mention to her med provider? She seen a commercial for Cymbalta, but is that like Abilify? I am just trying to help her. She does not have internet access and is very shy about speaking up. She has got major social anxiety. I would appreciate any help I can pass on to her. Thanks

Answers:

Cymbalta is not like abilify, cymbaltas a anti depressant and abilify is an antipsychotic. She needs to call her doctor like right in the morning or even go to the hospital if its really bad. Obviously needs a med change. Good luck.

Your welcome. If you can wait till Monday the doctor will almost always call them in to see them that same day. It might not be soon but they will try fitting you in. Mine would always call me in and see me as soon as she had a spot open up. Since I was there if I got worse they could transport me to the hospital as well which they did one time.

If she cant wait or you don't feel safe take her to the hospital. She will be seen by a psychiatrist and get a med change the very next day.
