Can't sleep at night only in the day. Cry for no reason every night?!

Question: Can't sleep at night only in the day. Cry for no reason every night?
At night I lay down and just keep changing sleeping positions. Nothing seems comfortable for too long. I just lay there. Sometimes I sit up and just sit there on the side of the bed. Around about 5:30am I always start crying. Just sobbing. Not even about a specific thing. I just cry myself to sleep. Then I have to wake up at 6:30am for school. It's about 2am as I write this. But If I lay down, I will not fall asleep. Plus, tonight I wanna c if that crying thing at 5 will happen if I'm up and doing things. what's wrong with me? How do I fix it. Other than sleeping pills cuz I'm not gonna take those. Thank u so much for any advice...

Answers:

It sounds like you may be suffering from depression. You can suffer from it without realising yourself, I did for a long time.

It could also depend on your age and hormonal balance... you sound about 16? Sorry to offend if that's incorrect. There's so much going on in your body around puberty and it sends you insane, I remember having problems just like this when I was 14/15/16.

You don't need a specific reason to be depressed - some people just have a chemical imbalance in their brain that they obviously can't control. Depression is known to affect things like sleep, appetite etc.

I would consider going to see your doctor and telling him/her everything you'd said here. I wouldn't recommend sleeping pills... that's not a good road to go down, you could become reliant if they do work.

Do you do any exercise? Exercising is a great for aiding sleep as it tires you out, plus it raises your mood, gives you more confidence and a generally better lease on life.

Anyway, I hope I haven't sounded preachy here. I hope this helps a little.

IDK other than taking a NATURAL sleep aid called Melatonin. Since it's natural, it's less addictive but still as effective.

Best of luck!

Just from reading these few sentences, it is hard to "diagnose" what is wrong with you. Are there thoughts in your head? Are you worried about things, or just not comfortable physically? have you tried talking about this to
a doctor/psychologist/psychiatrist? Do you have a history of depression or/and anxiety? There could be lots of factors. I'd recommend a non addictive hypnotic drug called IMOVANE short term, until your body gets into a normal sleep cycle. 7 to 10 days. However, the crying worries me a little. Do you have anyone to talk to why you break down in tears so often? Anyway....try this: lie down on your back, put one palm down on your stomach, the other on your chest. Inhale slowly and deeply into your chest, bringing it down into your belly while concentrating on your hand rising on your stomach. Hold it in for 3-4 seconds and slowly exhale. Concentrate on your breath, sensations in your body and gently direct your mind AWAY from upcoming thoughts. Gently inhale deeply....hold it, then exhale slowly. Repeat this until you find yourself dozing off. If you are interested getting into practices of relaxation, I highly recommend listening to Eckhart Tolle's THE NEW EARTH and/or THE POWER OF NOW audio book before you go to bed. You can download then for a fair price from "audible"dot com. Reading the books are good too, but his voice alone puts me into a trance usually.....:) Other than all of the above, If you'd like someone to talk to, you can write back, and we'll figure something out. Good luck....and sweet dreams:)
