Would I be perscibed benzodiazepines for anxiety?!

Question: Would I be perscibed benzodiazepines for anxiety?
I will try to make this short as possible.

I have awful anxiety, getting worse and for such ridiculous reasons. At first it started with panic attacks in a lesson I felt uncomfortable in because I thought they were going to have me read aloud ( I stutter and get breathless when i read aloud.)

I have had to actually leave this class, I take it as private study, whenever I think about considering going back to that lesson, I feel physically sick. It feels like a shockwave of sudden doom.

I have had more panic attacks recently, and in the lesson where I am most comfortable the other day, I began having a panic attack just because my teacher was going around the class asking us 1 by 1 what we thought of a film- this is such a stupid reason i know, but as I think about the fact that it is getting to me next, i feel more and more sick, by the time my teacher got to me, I was shakey and breathless and had to leave the class.

It is worst at night, where I cannot stop worrying about college the next day, it is effecting my life quite seriously now and I am seeing a doctor tuesday.

A doctor will prescribe according to his own experience. Some doctors will not prescribe them because they are so addictive. They are effective in most cases which of course means the person taking them does not want to stop. Anxiety disorder usually has a genetic component so there must be someone else in your family with a similar condition. I mention this because you are not responsible for your condition and did nothing to get it. Some things can help bring it on earlier such as pot smoking but in most cases it is inevitable.
You say you have them for ridiculous reasons but considering your inner feelings they are not strange at all. Your nervous system is hyperactive so and stress is magnified. A teacher going around the room asking opinions is the same as awaiting your turn in the electric chair. Panic disorder is a terrible thing and I wish there was a real cure rather than a chemical bandage. Sometimes people are helped by beta blockers such as propranolol taken before a stressful event or class. They interfere with the bodies reaction to stress so even if there is worry it does not progress to visible signs that can bring on panic. Good Luck

benzos are only for short term use and for a quick effect... you may be given something like diazepam or lorazepam, plus benzos are addictive

but if the doctor decide to give you something more long term, you'd prbs get some kind of ssri anti depressant which they use for anxiety like citalopram, sertraline or fluoxetine

You have a good chance.
Benzos are only meant for short-term use, but you would get some until your anti-depressant kicks in.
I have been on benzos for about 2 yrs..I don't take it often, but it really helps me...I am a teenager.
Therapy is really good for anxiety, so you might want to try that.
For sleep, you might get a sleep med.
Good luck.

Maybe try some therapy. A friend of mine has the same sort of problem and she said that helped a lot. If you feel the need to be on medication then so be it but I think you should leave that to the last resort.

Possibly. I was prescribed onto Citalopram for depression. Best of luck though. Btw, you look very cute in your picture. ;)

Don't get your hopes up, but you never know.
