Question: Emotional Numbness? 14 y old?
I just don't feel any emotions. I don't get happy, I don't get sad, the only emotion I can feel somtimes is anger, and it only lasts for a second. Sometimes I feel like cutting just to feel something real. I'm really stressed about everything, and I haven't lost anyone, and nothing bad has actually happened to me. One thing that is bothering me though, Is my mom. If she doesn't see me smiling, she tells me I have depression. If she doesn't see me studying she calls me a disgrace to the family. It makes me so angry. And I actually like that anger. I dont think im depressed, and I dont have suicidal thoughts. Its not that i want to cut myself because i think im worthless and **** is going wrong, its just that i really want to feel something.
I just want to feel something. ):

Emotional numbness is a common sign of depression, I've had it for years so trust me I know.

Despite what people will tell you depression is not an illness to take lightly, it can quickly become a lot worse if you don't take steps to control it. In the first instance you need to make a point of this with your mother and ask her to go and see a doctor...depression is an illness like any other illness and is very often misunderstood.



You just haven't been prepared properly to deal with the stress of growing up, and are overwhelmed by it. You are depressed, you're just to far gone to notice(it's a stress-hormone thing).
And you like the anger, because it gives you an out, to release the stress.

So get some help, talk to a psychologist(because the cutting is something that needs some serious treatment, because it's breaking down your soul), and you're gonna need some guidance to deal with the bad right now, and you should get some coaching, in how to deal with life, properly, because someone missed out, on teaching you.

The 'instant' way to start feeling, and feeling better, is to burn-off, the Cortisol(the stress hormone), so you're gonna have work-out, and work-out hard.
And instead of taking things out on yourself, join a boxing-school(or something similar), it's a great way to get rid of the frustration, and learn to deal with things the right way, and you'll get fit in the process.
