Is this normal for a teenager?!

Question: Is this normal for a teenager?
This has been happening for several months now.

I tend to get easily scared or anxious whenever I see a piece of paper. And like a compulsion, I will pick it even if it's not mine.
I used to be an outdoor person and stuff, now I'm scared to go out unless I'm going to school or mall WITH a particular vehicle. The reason why I'm scared is that I might drop something (even my pockets are empty) and I'm also afraid that I might not be able to avoid picking up papers, or being anxious just seeing them on the floor.

Why paper? Because I used to write personal stuff back then. When I lost a piece of paper, that's when I got scared. When I see a paper, I'll be like "what if I wrote something important here?" "is that mine?"

I'm having a hard time reassuring myself. and when I leave a place or a car, I tend to double check repeatedly before leaving. Checking the seat, checking this, that. And it's getting annoying. Especially when I'm walking, I'm having a hard time not looking back a lot.

what should I do? serious answers. should I just ignore this and let it pass or something? or should I tell my parents and ask for help?

Answers:

I know this is a long shot, but start using a different coloured paper at home from now on. Like yellow paper. Or a bright pink one. It MIGHT stop you from wanting to pick every sheet of paper you see because you don't really asosiate yourself with it as you do with pink paper.

I really suggest an Anxiety Therapy session :)

It sounds like a really bad OCD :(

I know everybody is saying it is OCD, but that may not be it could be something you can just mentally work through. I would ask a school counselor or something like that. The thing you need to do mainly is to tackle the issue one step at a time. But you already took the first step: asking for advice. The next step is to take it.

yes, reach out for help. It might only be tics that you've developed, but it could be obsessive compulsive disorder. Better safe than sorry, right?

personal experience

Tell your parents and ask for help. Sounds like you have OCD

Ask for help you have OCD or something so your parents can get you professional help

Sounds like OCD to me. Which is a type of anxiety disorder. Ask your doc
