For those who have suffered from depression, spiritually speaking?!

Question: For those who have suffered from depression, spiritually speaking?
I'm a Christian and for most of my life i have struggled with depression.

I think i'm okay at the moment. I'm holding down a job etc but i am currently trying to come down on my medication and am feeling really bad about myself, mainly because of all this drama that went on with my family last year.

So i am asking anyone (preferably Christians but anyone else who would like to answer intelligently) what has helped you get through mental illness? When there's nothing you can do to snap yourself out of it and the pain won't go away, what has helped you?

Answers:

listening to jars of clay and spending time in meditation of God's Word and in prayer.

art, food, and hugs also provide a little comfort.

I am a Christian, but I haven't had to deal with depression. But I would think that lowering on your medication is a good sign that you're getting better. About what happened last year with your family: reconciliation is the answer, get friendly with your family again. If that doesn't help, always try to find the source of your depression and confront it, otherwise, keep praying until God or the Holy Spirit gives you the answer.

Relax yourself all the time.
