Just as an everyday person, I agree with the other respondent that a person may have both OCD and ADHD (or neither one :) It's believed that OCD and ADHD is in a similar spectrum of disorders albeit very different. The images popping into your head may be symptoms of OCD, but please do not try to provide a self-diagnosis or self-treat and instead tell your mom or dad that you'd like to talk with a licensed counselor. How about talking with your guidance counselor on the next school day, too.

Your guidance counselor may actually suggest that you talk with the Child Study Team (CST) at your school. (Most public schools have them.) You'd mentioned that you had so much trouble in sixth grade, and perhaps you would benefit by having some classroom support or in more modified class levels as to not be so overwhelmed. The CST usually includes a school social worker, learning disabilities teacher-consultant (ldtc) and school psychologist. They assess your skills and find out the best way to help the student having difficulties. It doesn't usually include counseling sessions or a mental health diagnosis, but the CST can look at some ways to assist the person with any type of disability to adjust to the classroom whether it be a special needs class or a slower-paced level. The school will need your parents' permission before testing you though.

I think its all in your mind. If you know you have a problem you work on it. If you have bad grades you study harder, if you forget things you write them down, if your mom moved something you can just move it back. Its not like the world is going to end because of that. I clean my room in a certain way too, we all do and not everyone have OCD OR ADD. If you really think you have a real problem don't self diagnose yourself, visit a professional. Good Luck!

probably ADHD... and a little OCD.. you can have both

Well, I have OCD. I kinda have the same things you do. (but i cant diagnose you with it) anyway, I get images in my head alot that I dont want either. I go to counselling and what they tell me is to stop what you're doing and relax. Even if your at school. (i go to school too) And, think if the opposite. Its very hard i gotcha on that. But Ive been going to counselling for about 4 months now, and I feel like relaxing helps me alot. I do have hard times concentrating and my grades went down from B's to F's too! I have an anxiety problem (a problem where I become very scared and cant breathe well). Thats what my anxiety does, it causes me to loose focus. And, dont worry I cry too about it. You should not be ashamed either. Its you and thousands of others, including me, are the same way! I hope and think you should talk to someone, anyone! A friend, teacher, family member, or doctors and counselors at school! Good luck, and just relax. Youll be okay if you talk more about it.

Personal.
