Do you truly believe someone can get so drunk they don't realize what they&!

Question: Do you truly believe someone can get so drunk they don't realize what they're doing or remember anything?
We have all heard it from someone at sometime..."Man, I drank so much last night I don't remember s#@%. Did I do anything stupid?" I have never been that intoxicated. After a night of such festivities I later remember incidents of the evening after a few hours of being awake, but I am not completely clueless of the incidents or my actions. Be honest and no BS. I mean really, honesty is what I'm looking for here; not vomit on a page. I will rate for best answer if you sound genuine.

Answers:

yes it is possible. What your reffering to is a blackout. Its different than passing out. The person is fully concious at the time doing whatever they decide to do. But a high amount of alcohol suppresses the part of the brain that stores new memories. So after they sober up they will not be able to recall what happened during the black out because no memories were being stored at that time. Its like the brain being a film camera recording events. Extreme amounts of alchol shut the camera off. So the events are still going on their just not being recorded until the level of alchol in the person drops back down.

Yes, some people are affected differently by alcohol and they can forget things and/or drink themselves into unconsciousness. Some people will brag about this and many heavy drinkers DO remember what happened, but they just pretend they don't because they're embarrassed. Some people will drink to the point where their brain doesn't function normally.

Alcoholics in my family

as a recovering alcoholic i can say a definite YES to that question. thank GOD i have been dry for 25 years now. i used to get so drunk that i would suffer alcoholic black outs where i wouldn't remember things for days after wards. i still don't remember some of those days 25 years later when my husband and son talk to me about them.

personal experience.
