Can flashback thoughts scare you everyday depending on how bad it can be?!

Question: Can flashback thoughts scare you everyday depending on how bad it can be?
Answers:

Seeing patients with post-traumatic disorder, I guess it's really scary because these patients re-live the moment when trauma occurred. It occurs at sleep where they dream about the incident and upon waking up in the morning, they wont say a word because for them, the incident happened again just last night though therapy is being given. Working with them needs extra patience because they are really scared of the incident occurring again.

Yes they can, and they're usually memories kept in your amygdola; where all the emotional memories are kept. The two most common ones we hear of are trauma or guilt. Rather than experiencing the emotion first hand as a reaction, you're reliving it inside your head. Remembering it everyday of, say, a year or a long period of time such as that is a bit of a stretch.
Yes, something terrible could be haunting you for weeks however, usually it should ease and lessen simply because the reoccurring flashbacks should be helping you build a mental immunity to the situation. Some people, rather than building mental strength to the realize and accept situation, are hurt by it or repress the memory. Either way it usually causes stress. Looking for ways to relax and getting it off your mind may be beneficial.

I have flashbacks due to sexual abuse. You must remember this is the past speaking to you. It's painful and scary but you are NO LONGER BEING ABUSED.

Try planting your feet on the floor while sitting on the edge of your bed if you're having a panic attack. Make some chamomile tea, listen to soothing music. You're real. You're not slipping over the edge of the planet. Those people who hurt you can't hurt you anymore.

Get counseling if needed to discuss.
