Should I become homeless so I can keep my sanity?!

Question: Should I become homeless so I can keep my sanity?
I'll try to keep this as short as possible- Before you judge me, I want to say that I have been mentally ill since the age of 5, have been in and out of psychiatrists and therapists offices since the age of 5, and grew up with a mentally unstable family/mother/father etc. I am now in my mid-twenties and just want to die. I have no social skills, no job or life skills, suffer from extreme anxiety, ocd, (and agoraphobia now) and still live at home. I want to change my life around, but feel as though I can't because I have no money, and live with my mother who is a hoarder and bi-polar, and is very emotionally abusive towards me. We live in utter chaos- no where to walk because of my mother's hoarding, a dumpy small apartment where half the time there is no hot water, no heat, and a landlord who does not care either way. There are tons of illegals that live in this building which makes me scared to even go down to the basement into the laundry room to wash clothes. (There was a guy following me last year and made my anxiety worse).

I was in college a few years ago, but could not even focus on my studying because of the chaos and abuse. Also the neighbors above me were constantly blasting their music, they had a million kids that would make all kinds of noise running around, no hot water because there are like 10 people to a small apartment (i swear) so I would have to shower in freezing water, and most days I would just cry. I didn't finish college but want to now.

My mother says it's ME who needs help (which I do) but it's laughable that she thinks that she's comepletey sane. I just want to leave, get a job even if it's a crap job, and be happy with my life. Will shelters take single female women with no children? I have been told before by other websites that I can't enter a shelter unless I have kids, or am being abused by a boyfriend/husband. I just want out of this mess. I am at my wits end.

If I were you, I would get out there and get a job. ASAP.!!!!! You need out.! Save up to get a small studio apartment and start living your life. Go to the library meet new people there. There's quite, friendly people there. Good luck.

Do you have any friends you can bunk with?

When have you forsaken yourself? This is definitely not the worse thing that can happen to you.

It sounds almost the same as where i am,not fit for animals. There's heat,85 deg.heat even in warm weather.noise, fights, drugs, but it is better then living in the street or shelter.
That would be a big mistake.Stay there, they to get any job,Do not give up.
Take care,,,bye

You don't have a friend/cousin's house you can sleep in? That would be very handy.

And if that doesn't help, maybe a teacher that you had might be willing to let you sleep in their house while you stabilize yourself. Some teachers are very sympathetic.

Don't give up if homeless shelters don't allow you in, there is bound to be someone out there willing to help you.

Homeless will not make you any sane at all. You will become more depressed. So unless you have somewhere else to go, I say going homeless is really not a brilliant idea for you right now. It will add on to your stress.

NO, you should NOT become homeless. Your life is hard now, and being homeless will just make your life worse and you more depressed.

However, you should NOT stay in that environment. Since you have no friends or relatives you can stay with, call Social Services. Tell them the horrible conditions you're living in, and ask them to take you away. You'll probably be sent to a foster family until you turn 18 years old, but it's a million times better than where you're living now. You'll also qualify for more scholarships for college if you're a ward of the state.

If you're already 18 years old, get a job and save up your money to move out. You can rent an apartment and finish high school so you can have a better life. Study hard and get good grades in school. After high school, try to get scholarships for college. If you don't qualify for any, get a student loan. You can pay it back after you graduate college and get a full-time job.

You CAN get a better life. Good luck!
