Is my cutting getting worse?!

Question: Is my cutting getting worse?
Okay well last year around this time, when I was going through a rough time I started self harming by scratching myself with sharp things, I started again like 6 months ago by usin a pencil sharpener blade, and I started again about a month ago and now im using the blade from a disposable razor. It's really sharp and I have fugly scars all over my thighs which makes me even more upset. And now I'm finding that after I cut I don't feel better anymore, is it getting worse? Bad enoughto have to get professional help? I think I might be depressed also, I'm not sure but I feel suicidal most of the time, when I'm with my friends I'm okay though. And when I do cut, I cut at least ten cuts each time. And I cut everyday or so. Do you think it'll get worse?

Answers:

yes its gonna get worse!!! and the reason why you arent feeling suicidal with your friends is because you have people you love around you. spend more time with friends, and get proffessional help to stop the suicidal thoughts and cutting yourself. please dont kill yourself, think of the people you love. if you killed yourself how do you think they would take it? talk to your friends as well, b/c they will help you also :) and you need to figure out what it is that is making you feel depressed. you need help from your friends, loved ones, and professionals :)

i think your situation got worse or out of control when you first started scratching yourself with sharp things, it's gone way down hill from there.

you need to talk to your doctor about it, their probably the only ones who can help, ask to see the psychologist before being put on medication.

i suffered with a lot of mental health issues over the years, about the only thing that has helped is my doc and the psychologist i see.

Honestly, I think if you're seriously questioning if you're OK or not, you're probably not OK. If you're self harming like this and think you might be depressed, you should probably get help.

you need to get help.
it might seem scary but its the best thing you will ever do and it takes a lot of courage, get help before it gets even worse, trust me it does i know from personal experience

I'm sorry about your pain.

Your cutting will get worse. It already has. It is bad enough to seek help. I think it's time.

That's honestly not good. You should definitely not cut at all. Like I hate to say it but there's a lot better things to do than cut. Smoking helped me get out of depression and a couple of my friends have done the same. Like I just think cutting yourself is horrible and I do hate to say it but pot or cigarettes are a better choice and they make u feel much better. I understand if u don't want to get into that stuff and if you don't then definitely get help for cutting. Some of my friends friends have gone to the hospital for that so I recommend a psychiatrist. Please don't cut and best wishes.

Cutting at all is a sign that professional help is needed. The severity of the cuts don't determine how worthy someone is of help. You deserve to be heard and helped!

What you're describing is indeed a worsening of self harm. Most people start off with scratching or more mild forms of SI then become more aggressive until they end up mutilated and scarred. Speaking from personal experience, I know how hard it can be to see that there is a life without SI. When cutting becomes a routine behavior, it leaves you feeling unable to live without it.

It's a serious issue. You need to seek counseling before you end up severely hurting yourself. While it sometimes seems like it doesn't matter, remember that cutting can lead to accidental death and visible scarring.

I wish all the best to you.

cutting always gets worse if you do it. I started a year ago, I thought I'd be able to control it and keep it small. I'm now seeing a therapist because it's gotten out of hand. If you are cutting and it's not feeling "better" afterwards that means cutting has lost it's purpose and you are cutting for something else. But seriously, see a professional. You think ten is bad, it could become 42 cuts each time. Don't wait for that number and get help to stop it now. I'm not saying this like I know everything, since I've gotten flack before for saying stuff like this, I'm 15, of course I don't know everything. But I'm a cutter, I have the unfortunate experience of what cutting is, and majority of the time professional help is needed to overcome it. I'm just saying. Try to stop, see a professional. And as for the suicide, you could find a friend of your's to confide in about the cutting and suicidalness. Just be sure they won't ditch, flip out, or tell people. But talking to them could help when you're alone via phone/ internet
