How do I get over depression/anxiety? Also how to get motivated to look for a jo!

Question: How do I get over depression/anxiety? Also how to get motivated to look for a job?
Long story short: I've been depressed and have had ocd since 2002- it became REALLY severe about 4 1/2 years ago. I have been out of work ever since. I also now believe that I suffer from agoraphobia. I live in an emotionally abusive household. How do I motivate myself?

My family supports me financially, but in no other way, shape, or form. I live with my mother who is a hoarder and has bi-polar disorder. She is also very emotionally abusive towards me. The house is a filthy mess, there is also no hot water or heat. She won't allow anyone in the house to get anything fixed because she is afraid someone will call and turn her into the city. I could go on and on, but this place is not even suitable for animals. I cry all the time. I forgot to add that I have been mentally ill since the age of 5. Have been on meds since I was 8.

I was also thinking (even though this may be extreme) to become homeless to get out of my situation and get into therapy. I'm female with no children, and have been told by other forums that homeless shelters will not take in single women. Please help.

Answers:

well just know that the longer you take to change it. that's more time your wasting of your life. and if we only get one life then it would be awful to be depressed the whole time. you can change it! and i don't know who told you homeless shelters reject single women, but that is not true, they just run out of beds for women sometimes because they have less beds for women than men, and they have to separate y'all. i feel sad for you and i will pray for you. i think i would definitely run away from that situation because chances are your mom is not going to get better, but she might have a better chance if you don't support her by continuing to live with her. if i were you i think i would drive to a small town far away and find a job in a restaurant then maybe rent a small apartment somewhere with a lot of natural beauty around like Montana. and if you don't want to do that then maybe you could go to a local church and ask them to help you. Some churches are still mostly good, or at least they try to be. and just remember this isn't going to be your life forever one day things will be better and you will be happier, just be strong and try your best to change things. maybe start saving some money just enough to get out. also if i was you i might go running a lot and try to get in great shape that way i could just find a guy to live with and start over.
