When schizophrenia is treated with psychotic medicine do the delusions remain?!

Question: When schizophrenia is treated with psychotic medicine do the delusions remain?
Answers:

Unfortunately, there is no cure for schizophrenia, but with the right med combo it can be controlled in most ppl very well. I have schizoaffective bipolar disorder and take a combo of anti depressants and antipsychotics and it helps me with delusional thoughts. the medicine helps to bring the delusions to the background rather than the forefront. what i mean is they become more manageable and alot of times i forget they are there. the delusions can be changed through logic when the meds really kick in and with the help of a therapist. you just have to get yourself to the point that you are questioning their reality and begin to debunk them.

personal experience

IT depends!

dear lord, schizophrenia is sooo complicated.. the medicine can work for a while, but then stop being useful.. or it can make the delusions worse! sometimes they do nothing at all, other times they don't do anything with your mind, but do succeed in giving you strange cravings, mood swings or weight gain.

scientists can only guess at what causes schizophrenia, so the medications are super varied.. my mother is schizophrenic, and she takes multiple pills, some simply to negate side effects of the other pills!

so yes, sometimes the dellusions remain. My mom has to get her blood levels checked to make sure she has a certain amount of meds in her system, etc...
schizophrenia can't be cured, only managed

living with a schizophrenic all my life!
