Whats your experience's of low dose (25mg 3 times a day) of Seroquel/quetia!

Question: Whats your experience's of low dose (25mg 3 times a day) of Seroquel/quetiapine?
I'm being prescribed quetiapine 25 mg three times a day for anxiety until I start psychotherapy. I'm really hoping this will help me function better. But I'm slightly worried about side effects as this is my first step into the world of what i'd call more hardcore medications. My doctor said the lower the dose the less side effects and that there's virtually none on such a low dose.
But ive heard it can still make you feel disconnected which worries me as i'm an ex-cutter and not cut since november. I'm also worried about the side effects of feeling less active than i already feel, and putting on weight as ive just finally shifted a stone.
Saying all this, on the other hand my anxiety has isolated me and pushed me to suicide, so i would like to get it under control.

Sharing any experience's you've had on 25mg would be really helpful, especially if it was for anxiety.

Many thanx in advance x

One of the most difficult challenges, particularly in mental health, is the patients fear of "side effects". That is not to say that there is no reason to be concerned but oftentimes the patient refuses to take the medication due to fear of what "might happen". I would like you to face the fact that ALL medications have the risk of side effects. Even Aspirin has a warning on the bottle. The dosage that you have been described is very therapeutic and it is extremely doubtful that you would have any bad effects.

This is an excellent resource about understanding and treating anxiety. It is free to download.

i've been on quetiapine for about 3 years now... for mood swings but i do suffer anxiety.. it makes you feel drowsy for the first few weeks, but that wears off after a while. when your body gets used to it and you miss a dose the withdrawl effects are horrible. plus when you take it, take things slowly, cos if you stand or turn very quick it can make your blood pressure low and make you dizzy or faint. i was started on 25 mg a day and i am now on 400mg. but every one is different and any doeses higher than 400mg are mainly for bi polar highs or schizophrenia, the lower doses are used for people with insomnia, depression and anxiety.

i hope this helps, i'm sure you're not the only one on such a low dose, but i do suggest you stay on a ow dose because when you want to stop takiing it, it'll be hard and the withdrawl effects are really horrible e.g if i don't take it one night, i will not sleep... and it is bl**dy irrataing. i get the shakes, feel sick, go to the loo every 30 mins, feel totally alien
