A Psychologist that is unable to see problems in their own life...is there a ter!

Question: A Psychologist that is unable to see problems in their own life...is there a term for that?
A family member is a Child Psychologist yet her family life is quite dysfunctional. Wondering what the term is that denotes this. Wondering if it is common. (Wondering a lot of things...lol)

Unfortunately this happens A LOT. People are drawn to psychology because they're pretty crazy. They think that something in what they study is going to help them.... but they study along, year after year, and nothing happens. They finish up and they're no smarter or more straightened out in their personal life than they ever were.

Then they go to work - and of course they're blind to their own problems - and this means they're often blind to a lot of problems in their patients. What you see with psychologists like this is that they're frightened - they're terrified of emotion - and so they often will try to "control" their patients. The patient will be told (in many ways) never to express certain emotions because it will disturb the psychologist. As psychologists they tend to manipulate patients back to health - but it doesn't really work.

Obviously these people are pretty worthless - and there's a lot of them.

Just because you have an MD or a PHD does not mean that you do not have problems in your own life. I am a perfect example. I have both of those degrees yet I suffered for years with clinical depression. I have finally found medication that resolves these issues but my life is certainly not perfect. The only thing I can say is that my own personal experiences have made me much more empathetic with my patients.
By the way, did you know that of all of the Medical specialties, dentists have the highest percentage of suicide? I don't think anyone has ever answered the question why but it certainly is interesting.

Uncle Sam has the right term; in other words "You can't see the woods for the trees.".
