Question: Easy 10 points: How can i stop doing my ocd rituals?
The anxiety always rises with the ritual how can i deal with them, I cant go to therapy right now and dont want to take medication i did before and it didnt work that much.

Answers:

Being ocd is very hard, everyone thinks you're nuts but the what I suggest you do is if you do somehting 50x a day the next day do it 49x and so forth until you're down to about 2-3x a day.

I say 2 or 3 coz once is never enough.

Take medication and/or get therapy. That's what works.

I take medication for depression and anxiety. I'd rather not take it if I had the choice but I don't. Most people don't like to take medication.

If you can stop it without medication or therapy, then you don't really have OCD.

Worked in mental health since 1987, treated for depression and anxiety since 1983

i try to do things to help me avoid them, because i don't really believe in getting therapy for it. what i mean is one of my rituals involves hand washing, rather than washing my hands every time i touch a doorknob or something i try to use my wrists or sleeve or something to open. it's not exactly a cure, but it does cut down on the amount of time i spend washing my hands and it's something i'm able to do without people necessarily noticing.

i suppose it's more substitution, but it helps me function better...might work for you.

just ignore the ocd, occupy yourself with something else, talk to a friend, play with your pet.
