klonopin dosage question?!

Wow, bentley. I have been taking Klonopin for about three years for GAD and social phobia. At the most, I was prescribed 2mg. a day...at night. It does tend to make you sleepy, at least at first. Right now I'm on .5mg. a day TOTAL! It seems just right. I sleep well, no anxiety, etc. In fact, in hindsight I think the higher dosage actually made my anxiety worse. I can't wait to get off this stuff. Good luck and God bless. :) Benzodiazepines are helpful, but they also have a high rate of addiction.

I used to be on klonopin for 2 years straight. Nothing else along with it, because I got terrible reactions from all other meds. Maybe the zoloft is having a bad mixing effect with the klonopin. Anyway, when I was on klonopin, he told me to take one dose per day. Every morning. Klonopin lasts a pretty long time in the system- about 9 or 10 hours. I was on a 1mg daily. That seemes to work fine for me, I was calm all day in that way of doing it.

I was on Klonopin for quite a few years. I began taking .5 mg in the morning and another one in the evening. A few months later my dose was increase to 1 mg. again in the morning and the evening.

I have also know other people with anxiety and panic disorder, you are the first person I have heard of that were prescribed to take klonopin every 4 hours. Klonopin stays in your system for a long time.
If I were you, I would ask your doctor or even your pharmacist about the dosing. It does seem to be excessive.
This sounds more like the dosage schedule for xanax.
