How much can the mind affect the body?!

Question: How much can the mind affect the body?
Like, can anxiety and worry about something make symptoms of that thing appear physically? I worry about accidently getting pregnant from toilet seats etc, and when I'm anxious about this having happened, I'll notice I need to pee more frequently, and my periods will be late, etc. Is that a normal thing to happen? (Also, does that sound like OCD?)

Answers:

The mind is very very strong... it can make you feel and believe anything
I went to the hospital with my friend when she was giving birth, she asked me to hold her hand because she was so scared of the pain. They gave her "gas and air" and I told her that it will help with the pain. She went through the labour and she said her birth was near "painless" the doctor congratulated her because when they unhooked her, they realised the gas and air tank was empty... she was just breathing oxygen... but because her mind thought it was stuff to kill the pain, her body reacted differently to what was going on

You can't get pregnant from toilet seats so don't worry, I get paranoid about pregnancy even though I have contraceptive injection, I get pregnancy tests a week after intercourse and waist so much money when my contraception is over 99% effective and only 2 women in 5 years will get pregnant by accident on it.

You just probably have bad anxiety which can be caused by many things, tiredness, stress, depression... tiredness and stress especially as your mind is all over the place and you either over think things or under think things.

You don't sound like you have OCD... just anxiety... you can get beater blockers from the doctors. My aunt takes them because she has terrible anxiety as her husband keeps having affairs, you don't need to worry as they don't slow the heart rate, they simply prevent it from picking up and racing which causes anxiety. Do things that relax you... You'll either grow out of it or learn to live with it

Family history of Anxiety

You can't get Pregnant from toilet seats!
Try to relax! Start journaling. get a book and write. You sound like you are obsessing get your mind busy with other things then it will all stop!

I understand what your saying, you have anxiety... Get a pregnancy test to clear your consciences.

Sure does!! BTW! You can't get pregnant from a toilet seat!! Even if there was "DNA" all over it!!
