smoking weed for awhile & now trying to quit?!

Question: Smoking weed for awhile & now trying to quit?
been smoking for a year and a half everyday of the week taking multiple hits in a day and i can say im mentally dependent on marijuana if all you got to say is "its not the weed it you..bla bla bla" dont bother answering cause it IS the weed it made me very unsocial, lazy, unmotivated. i missed up alot of opportunitys in life. it just basicly turned me into a couch potato. and whenever i do smoke i get very paroniod and very uncomfortable with my surroundings i think about bad thoughts and have bad trips and when im down from the high i feel very easily depressed and feels like the world is shi*..it just feels like im going psycho in my head.. i dont even bother with school anymore cause i thought life was all about fun.and i was usually the fun type of guy when i used to not smoke and i used to have alot of friends. but i lost it all, it made me and my best friend drift apart. it changed his personality and when we are together it doesnt feel the same anymore. like how it used to been without the marijuana. lost a ton of friends and now a loaner just smoking pot everyday. i just want to change that all and turn my life around. how can i do so? whenever i try quitting my so called "best friend" drag me back into it and we usually argue about me quitting but he doesnt seem to understand. should i just stop hanging out with him ? d how can i stop smoking weed? its on my mind 24/7 and i was usually the fit type of guy..

I've got a friend that's been that way for 20 years. Our lives used to revolve around it and I know exacly.what youre talking about with the negative thoughts when i was high and the guilty or depressed feeling when it was over. Thats what made me quit. It happened on its own a short while after I started noticing those things you mentioned. I got a job and ended up meeting new friends. My buddy is still stoned all the time and after 20 years he's still like a brother to me. The guys I met at my various jobs, drinking buddies after work for the most part, never replaced the guys I grew up with but we had to go our separate ways so I could make more of.my life than they wanted to make of theirs. It's really about what's important to you. You could easily end up like my friend in 20 years or like me and make something.of yourself.

Get a hobby. Maybe start doing a sport? Athletes usually aren't really in to drugs. Also ,throw yourself into your schoolwork. Start reading, feed your brain with information. Just keep yourself occupied and don't put yourself in situations where you know weed will be offered.

Workout more!

Sounds like you are seriously thinking of quitting. Just like any other addiction, you will have to remove ALL temptation. Set goals. Look at a calander, and set a "quit date". Build yourself up for it. Tell your "friends" about it. Also tell them that if they do not support you, then they dont need to come around. Don't buy anymore. Spend your weed money on something you like. (besides drugs.) Think positive thoughts: how much more money u will have, how much better u will feel, etc. Gain some more non smoking friends and let them encourage you. Good luck!!
