I feel as if im at least partially to blame for my mental problems?!

Question: I feel as if im at least partially to blame for my mental problems?
ive been having mental problems for like 10 months (mostly depression, anxiety, and self harm) and i feel as if i wouldnt be having them if i did things differently (such as taking senior year more seriously - in regards to school i was so lazy, trying to get by with doing the least amount of work possible, which didnt work in senior year when there was way too much work and i got suspended for 3 weeks for a minor "fight" (long story short this kid would not shut up and he tried to bully me to act tough, when i attacked he acted like he was the victim, and im the only one that got in trouble) . not to mention for nearly 14 years ive had to deal with my oldest brother robbing my family blind, and for much of that ive had to deal with my dad yelling at me for every little thing i did wrong and my mom nagging about how much the house is a mess - when really it isnt. ive been getting professional help, but i feel as bad as ever and im so tempted to cut while im waiting for my antidepressants to start working (ive only started taking them about 2 weeks ago)

Answers:

Funny things about anti-depressants. They mostly don't work. Ask yourself this. What can you do? You can probably find AT LEAST three things. And if you do, why haven't you done them? Eliminate that why, replace it with "what would I gain?", and you'll have done something about the situation

I am really sorry to hear your horrible conditions. It may be due to bad time or bad luck.

In future start your days with a little amount of prayers. Pray honestly, sincerely and with ardent devotion. You will then be able to get some peace of mind and happiness. I am told sincere prayers are answered faster.

Mind is a very delicate part in our body. So we are supposed to keep our mind strong, pure, calm, sharp and bright. In any case, we should not deliberately try to unsettle our own minds. Because self-degradation is bad and moreover one should not encourage inferiority complexes.
