Can someone with anorexia and bipolar disorder be a Psychiatrist?!

Question: Can someone with anorexia and bipolar disorder be a Psychiatrist?
I am going to university next year and am in treatment for my anorexia. My bipolar disorder is quite stable. I would love to be a Psychiatrist. Can someone with these mental illnesses become a Psychiatrist?

Answers:

if you are stable and in recovery then yes.... i trained as an Occupational Therapist even thought i have anorexia... (it was better manged at the time when i trained)

you have to be honest about it though....

(sod off with the thumbs down, how mean spirited and unkind)

As long as you are recovered from your anorexia and are stable with your bipolar disorder, I am sure you will be fine. Your experience will be invaluable and you will often understand the patients more with their problems.

I suppose it would even be more beneficial and help you as you have experiences. Im sure most psychiatrists went through there own problems and maybe even the same as there patients at some point of there lives.

Yes of course, you can be whatever you want. If you learn to fix your problem then you can help people with experience of your own with those problems.

no
