Question: What is bulimia and anorexia? How are they different?
Wondering :-/

Answers:

Bulimia is a condition in which the patient will have diminished eating for short periods of time, followed by binge eating (eating a lot more than necessary), and this binge is followed by some form of 'purging'. This may take the form of inducing vomiting, or taking an excessive amount of laxatives and /or diuretics. The person may purge in one or all of these ways. This purging poses dangers in that excess vomiting can and often does cause irritation of the esophagus and can progress to serious damage. In addition, expelling body contents and fluids in the ways mentioned can cause an
acute depletion of electrolytes, particularly potassium. Potassium is essential to muscle function and because the heart is one large muscle the potential for heart problems exists.
The bulimic person will also often exercise excessively, also causing fluid loss through perspiration and again electrolyte loss. A poor self image is almost always the culprit. There are a number of forms of excellent treatment for bulimia, including anti-depressants, therapy and other resourceses.
Anorexia is a morbipreoccupationon of being fat. Even at a desired weight the anorexic person see's themselves as grossly overweight. In anorexia, there is minimal eating, which can to the body consuming it's own body muscle, first fat, then muscle. If this continues, there will come a point where the anorexic person will not be able to tolerate food or even food supplements. Anorexia is the leading cause of death in all of the psychiatric disorders. Being anorexic is not a deatsentencece though, and with treatment, 75% regain wellness. There must be treatment though, and afterward, careful observation for recurrence.
Hope this helped,

Anorexia nervosa, commonly referred to simply as anorexia, is one type of eating disorder. More importantly, it is also a psychological disorder. Anorexia is a condition that goes beyond concern about obesity or out-of-control dieting. A person with anorexia often initially begins dieting to lose weight. Over time, the weight loss becomes a sign of mastery and control. The drive to become thinner is actually secondary to concerns about control and/or fears relating to one's body. The individual continues the ongoing cycle of restrictive eating, often accompanied by other behaviors such as excessive exercising or the overuse of diet pills to induce loss of appetite, and/or diuretics, laxatives, or enemas in order to reduce body weight, often to a point close to starvation in order to feel a sense of control over his or her body. This cycle becomes an obsession and, in this way, is similar to an addiction.
Bulimia is an illness in which a person binges on food or has regular episodes of significant overeating and feels a loss of control. The affected person then uses various methods -- such as vomiting or laxative abuse -- to prevent weight gain.
People with anorexia are sometimes bulimics, bulimics sometimes are anorexics.

Anorexia: dont eat or hardly eat. Bulimia: eat but then throw up the food. Both are eating disorders but different I'm sure you can tell after knowing what they are.. :)
Don't become either of them Im struggling with hardly eating it's no fun and it'd bad for you.

Bulimia is when you binge on lots of food and then make yourself sick. Anorexia is a fear of gaining weight and starving yourself.
