Does depression affect your sleep?!

Question: Does depression affect your sleep?
Okay well I'm pretty sure I'm depressed. But lately I'll fall asleep around 12 on a school night, and no earlier than that because I can't sleep. I'll wake up at 7, and lay down for half an hour trying to get up, but I'll be soo tired, and then that night I won't be able to sleep but I'll be tired during the day, and on weekends when I go to bed around 1, I'll wake up around 9 or 8, which is weird since I get barely any good sleep on week days. And then I'll have to force myself to sleep until like 11, and its hard to get out of bed =/

Answers:

depression can make you very fatigued but at the same time your entire body feels so terrible all the time that it's hard to have any really good sleep because you aren't relaxed. It's a contradiction that a lot of my friends and I have had tons of trouble with. You do have a lot of trouble falling asleep along with the countless other problems depression brings. I am one of the lucky ones who used to be very depressed and am now seeing a good change and i don't consider myself depressed anymore. I'm sorry to hear about your problems, sleep is affected unfortunately i hope you get better soon good luck.
