What's wrong with me? Please help!?!

Question: What's wrong with me? Please help!?
I'm starting to worry. Sometimes I loose touch with what's real and what's in my mind.
I start out mumbling to myself about something and before I know it I'm in full out conversation with myself as if talking to somebody. I remain aware of my surroundings, but it's like my mind projects these people into the environment around me. I know in the back of my head they're not there , I just don't care. The only time I have an interesting conversation with somebody is where I'm talking to myself, that's how dead my social life is. (seriously, I'm not trying be funny)
I've been reading, and it sounds like I may have early stage schizophrenia, or a schizophrenia related disorder. I want to see a doctor and get a professional opinion, but I don't know how to talk about it to my parents, they have enough to worry about, and we can't afford to see a doctor unless we're 100% sure it's necessary.

Please help, any advice is appreciated.

The first thing I want to tell you is that the fact you are aware that this behavior is bizarre is a GOOD THING! If you were truly schizophrenic or suffering from hallucinations then you would not be aware that your behavior is inappropriate and you wouldn't be aware that the "people" you are talking to are not there. So, what is happening with you? Here are my thoughts: you are bored and lonely. People are social beings and as such we need to have encounters with other people. If you never have a chance to have interesting conversations with other people then it is definitely possible that you could start having conversations with imaginary people. That being said, I think maybe you should take a closer look at why your social life is "dead". Are you so shy that you cannot make friends? Are you depressed and isolating yourself from others? What is holding your social life back from being a little more interesting? Maybe join a club, start a sport or hobby where you will share something in common with other people and have a reason to leave your house and to socialize. If you are old enough to work you could always look for a job too. Get out there and have fun! My last piece of advice to you is incredibly serious. If you ever feel that you need to speak to a doctor or a counselor do not keep your parents in the dark. I promise you that regardless of whether or not they have enough to worry about or what their finances are they would rather that you go to them and ask for help than continue living miserably. Of course they want the best for you and you deserve the best, so never be afraid to go to your parents for help! There are many ways to get help without having to spend a fortune. And your parents will not be as worried if they know you are open to getting help. They will worry more if you begin isolating and behaving differently. Good luck!

Suffer from mental health problems since being a teen.

your case is way too complex,

i suggest professional help, look for a psychiatrist near your residence.
it may be healthy too, to get involved with self hypnosis. read a book about it and then download an hypnosis session. you'll understand how your brain works and all the power hidden inside.
