Suicidal feelings... Please help me...?!
Question: Suicidal feelings... Please help me...?
My friend, I have only two pieces of advice for you.
1) Where there is life, there is suffering, and
2) All things come and go.
Let me explain. In your entire life, from now to the day you die (hopefully many years from now) you will experience great pain, drama, and hopelessness. Suffering and life are two sides of the same coin. Events in your life will constantly unfold, painful changes will happen, and you will never find peace "out there". The world is a stormy sea, and if you look for happiness in the world, you will be tossed about like a boat in the storm. You will never find happiness out there, in a world of chaos and misery. So your family isn't doing well, your friends let you down, and you feel you were mistreated by the world? Perhaps you were mistreated, and that's where my second fact comes in; all things come and go. Your suffering today will be but a painful memory in the years to come. Right now you are dependent on others, not able to shape your life and fate. Your life is in other people's hands for now, and they aren't doing a good job of directing it. While I am sorry for you and feel for you, there is nothing I can actually DO for you, nor is there much you can do for your self right now. Notice that I said "right NOW". But in a shorter amount of time than you think, you will be independent, able to direct your life as you wish. Don't give your life up now, when you have not even tasted the beautiful freedom that you will soon have. All things come and go, this situation will pass, and you will never have to experience it again.
But in the shorter term, well... what can you do NOW? Here's what. You say you are lost, you don't know what to do. You don't know what you have left? Let me tell you a secret. Every single human being on this planet is lost, everybody is suffering. But most people are able to cover it up, temporarily, with distractions like television, sports, shopping, work, family, alcohol, drugs, religion, and so forth. You are experiencing suffering in a far more acute form, to the point that you can't distract yourself anymore. You said it yourself "Not even things that made me feel the least bit better just make me feel worse." Well, guess what? This is a great thing! By ignoring the distractions, you can focus on the root of your suffering. That root is your mind! You believe everything that pops into your brain, and 98% of our thoughts are repetetive and negative. I told you not to look for happiness "out there", you will only find happiness inside of you. Why do you suffer? It is not what happens "out there" that makes you suffer, it is your reaction to those events!
So here's what you can do right now. Stop believing every negative thing that your brain spits out. Stop reacting to everything that happens in the world, because if you do, you will never find peace or happiness. Peace and happiness come from inside. When you are detached from the world and all of the drama that unfolds in it, you will be a very happy person. Let your problems roll off of you like water on a duck, you must learn to let your problems go. Be at peace in the present moment, calm your mind, and know that all of these problems, like all things in the world, will pass.

These feelings will happen especially if you are feeling upset or mad or sad. You're still young and in ninth grade(?) you DO have someone to talk to, a teacher, counselor, youth worker. Please make the effort. No one deserves to end their life because of someone else. Times like those are hard but you have to be strong and brave and talk to an adult.
