Question: Think I have low self esteem...?
Some things happend in my past... which I think really messed me up haha.. I cant ever act myself infront of people im not very comfortable first.. Only my like 1 best friend, and my girlfriend are like the only 2 people I can act my crazy random self with :). hehe. Like for example...Im SUPER scared to get hurt... even if me and my new girlfriend have only been dating like 2 weeks...I feel like such a mess...
also for example...I dont even feel like attractive or "pretty" at all...sigh..just need that bit of comfort I guess... Just looking for some advice...Please...

I have recently encountered the opinion that, just as it is important to build a house on a solid foundation, so it is with self esteem. Learn to forgive yourself for your past mistakes, and failures, or inadequacies. Accept that you, too are just a human being, with the frailties, insecurities, and tendency to err, occasionally, that the rest of us have. That is the beginning of self love, self acceptance, and self esteem. Regularly monitor your internal monologue (self talk): write down the negative ones: "I'm really ugly" and then the converse: "I'm fairly good looking", and next time you become aware that you are thinking the former, visualise, as vividly as possible, a big "STOP!!!" sign, and/or a stern faced person wagging a finger at you, and deliberately repeat 5 times, either aloud, in a big voice, if alone, or subvocally (to yourself, in your mind), the converse affirmation.

Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary. Volunteer, even from home, at first, to provide a solid basis in reality for the daily affirmations: "I am a good person, who is valued by my community, because I... (insert activity here).." you just have to learn to come out of your comfort zone. Life is too short to be scared or hidden all the time and when i learned the quiker i became more popular because im a big jokester but nobody knew except my close friends but now pretty much everybody knows cause i wasnt afraid to do a joke that maybe not everyone would laugh at. I just learned not to care what other people think and neither should you.

Personal experience



Work out. It raises self esteem.
Do something your good at. A sport? Hobby? Anything.
And think positive. Don't think your self as a mess. Obviously your good looking enough to have a girl.
