Is it normal to imagine your loved ones dead?!

Question: Is it normal to imagine your loved ones dead?
I've always been worried about my family dying. In the last year or two though i'm constantly having thoughts about what would happen if they did die. For example I imagine my mum getting run over or my son falling over the balcony. It's not just worrying it will happen, I actually picture it in my mind with blood, broken bones and all. It's always a different scenario, and I have these thoughts several times a day. Sometimes I find myself thinking up a horrible accident then I look at the clock and it's been 10 or 15 mins. I can't sleep some nights because i'm scared one day this will happen and my family will be dead....is this normal?

It is normal to worry about your loved ones dying. But what you've described sounds somewhere between psychological dissociation and hallucination. And you sound terribly anxious as well. I think that you need to see a doctor, i will be blunt. They won't strap you down in a straightjacket. What they might do is offer you some support until this situation improves. This might take the form of some counselling, or medication. And they might want you to be assessed by your local mental health team. These are the people with the expertise and skills necessary to treat the kind of problem you have. It sounds to me that you have severe anxiety, and this might be causing the rest of your symptoms. So the right medication could probably help a lot. But you do need a full assessment and a little support right now. It could really help a lot.

I've suffered from what you're describing and it can be terrifying. Please trust your doctor and ask for help, it really could improve things a lot.

It just occurred to me that your lack of regular sleep could be making the problem a lot worse. Please talk to your doctor; at the very least they could help you to sleep better. And once the sleep is under control, it could be easier to think clearly and tackle the rest of the issues.

In short, yes it is normal to worry about your loved ones, but no, a lot of the symptoms you have described are not normal when they are that severe. My advice is that you see your doctor asap and tell them everything you've said here. Your doctor will, I guarantee, be able to help you an awful lot.

I wish you the best of luck, and I really hope you feel better soon. When you have these visions in your mind, say out loud if you have to that 'this is not real, this is not real'. I find it helps me reconnect with reality when I'm feeling a little lost.

No you need to see a psychologist

I used to have a fear of death, I mean at five years old, being afraid to die XD

idk everyone has their own phobias, my friend is afraid of pigeons o.o lol ....

At some point in our lives we will die , theres nothing we can do, but I take comfort in God, those that are born again will not die but indeed enjoy a life of peaceful eternity in fellowsship with him. :)

if the thoughts are too much I would suggest saeeing a therapist.... were you always like this? if not maybe it was a recent accident that has you shooken up??
