I can't get to sleep at night.Help!?!

Question: I can't get to sleep at night.Help!?
It's been happening since I was twelve. I get paranoid about going to sleep because I keep thinking someone is going to come in and kill me.As a result,I haven't been getting sleep.I've tried different things like listening to music and watching a film before I go to bed but nothing seems to work.At the age I am now,It's important that I get enough sleep so I don't feel like fainting during the day,and that I keep my grades as good as they were. Please,if anyone has any advise, please give because I really don't know what to do!

I was experiencing something very similar to what you're experiencing. What i've done to help myself get to sleep is i read a very good book before i go to bed. Eventually, my eyes start drooping & i can no longer keep my eyes open. I know when i keep reading the same line 20 times i am ready to sleep. If you have to read until you do fall asleep. It's not going to cause any harm to have the book fall out of your hands, right? Just try it! You might be surprised and it can't hurt considering what you're dealing with now. If this doesn't work then it's time to go see the doc. You may need to be put on some medication so that you can sleep. Which is better....suffering every day because you're so exhausted that you can't even perform simple tasks? Or, take medication that will put you to sleep within 15 minutes & allow you to function normally & not feel so dragged down all the time? When people are lacking sleep they do not perform as well. This is a fact!! Getting sleep is so important to keep yourself healthy. Our body and organs need adequate sleep & i'll do whatever i have to to get it. Even taking medication. I am currently taking Serequel & i fall asleep within 15 minutes of taking it every night. I feel so refreshed in the morning & i feel like i can tackle everything. Good luck! Hope this works for you. :)

Thats insomnia... you need medical help, they'll probably prescribe some sleeping pills.

If you don't want to go and see a doctor then... drinking a glass of warm milk in the evening might help a bit...

If you're really desperate, try sleeping pills.
