Should I switch anti-depressants?!

Question: Should I switch anti-depressants?
I've been taking Zoloft 100 mg for quite awhile now and at first it worked really well but now I feel like it's just not working. My mood crashes every few days, i feel like crying over stupid stuff, and I get super depressed over nothing. I know it's possible to build up a tolerance to Zoloft, should I just switch meds? Should I talk to a doctor? I went to the doctor on my school campus once (not for depression though) cuz it's free and felt like it was really awkward. I'd rather not go, I mean there's no good way to explain why I feel so down, I just do. Advice? Thanks so much.

Answers:

Yes, switch to another SSRI, they can be switched with no withdrawal. The SSRI's are notorious for simply stopping their effectiveness, suddenly, just as you describe.

You may also be suffering from a second type of depression, a seasonal depression, like seasonal affective disorder, or situational depression, on top of medicine failure.

Don't worry about talking to a doctor, that's what they're paid for. And you won't surpirise one. Just write down symptoms ahead of time, olong with any questions, so you don't freeze up in front of him and shut down because you feel uncomfortable. That's what I used to do.

I wanted him to help me, but I couldn't tell him all that I was noticing because I'd get self-conscious, confused, didn't know how to explain it, and then tongue tied, feeling worse when I left than when I went in, lol. So just relax. He's there to help you

personally I hate antidepressants. but if it was working for you before, then maybe ur building up a tolerance to it. Talk to ur psychiatrist
