Post tramtic stress disorder?(PTSD)?!

Question: Post tramtic stress disorder?(PTSD)?
I need signs& symtoms. how do you get it?

Answers:

Any emotional or physical trauma. soldier often get it, women who have been in abusive relationships, women who have been raped, people who have been attacked or shot or stabbed. I have this myself.

This is a more professional statement about this disorder.

Post traumatic stress disorder (also known as post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD) is a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma.[1][2][3] This event may involve the threat of death to oneself or to someone else, or to one's own or someone else's physical, sexual, or psychological integrity,[1] overwhelming the individual's ability to cope. As an effect of psychological trauma, PTSD is less frequent and more enduring than the more commonly seen acute stress response.

Diagnostic symptoms for PTSD include re-experiencing the original trauma(s) through flashbacks or nightmares, avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma, and increased arousal – such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, anger, and hypervigilance. Formal diagnostic criteria require that the symptoms last more than one month and cause significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

Hypervigilance is something I have. I startle easily, I jump, I flinch. Something loud happen behind me and I act like I am being attacked. I can sleep better during the day than at night (I was raped at night), I think that is what makes it hard for me to sleep when it is dark. When I am in a room with people I know how everyone is feeling, if they are happy, angry, upset, tired, etc. I visualize everything I do before I do it and my mind is showing me how i could be hurt or killed. (I have no control of this, didn't even notice it at first. But my daughter pointed it out to me, I am being hurt or killed time and time again each day with this visualization. Which is emotionally exhausting.

I hope this helps.

You get it from a traumatic event. Example you witnessed someone being killed, you were raped, you were sexually abused, attacked, mugged, you had a horrible up bringing, really anything that was stressful.
Symptoms: When you get stressed the feeling of being stressed doesn't go away, you obsessive on it. Little things stress you out and you can't get it out of your head. Smells, tastes and places can make you go into a stress attack as it reminds you of what happened to you in the past.
If you want to find out if you have PTSD you would have to go to a doctor and tell them your life story. They would then diagnose you. PTSD never goes away you will have it for life. Proper medication can help and counseling.
Good Luck
