It sounds like you are stressed out from having to vacation with people that you do not know well. They are basically still strangers to you and often that can be unsettling for a child or an adult especially if they haven't anyone with them that they are close to and know very well.

Your body and mind are dealing with it in the best way that they can. So now you find yourself awake all night and sleeping during the day.

In the recent Scientific American there is an article which explains that if there are bright lights on in the evening they can actually fool the brain into believing it is day time and rob them of the melatonin which is needed for sleeping.

This is what happens to those of us who are insomniacs.

How are your sinuses and allergies? Sometimes those can keep a person awake if they are not treated with a decongestant or an antihistimine.

What do you do when you are awake all night? Try reading a good book like a Harry Potter novel with a mellow soft light if you can. I know much of what you can and can't do probably depends on the other adults in the house.

If you have to be in bed at a certain time open the curtains, making certain to have the cord of the curtain within easy reach when you lay upon your bed propped upon your pillow
and facing the window, you stare at the stars.

Look from one star to the next and repeat the process over again as often as it's necessary. I guarantee you will soon find yourself getting drowsy! Let your thoughts wander. Don't try to control them. When you finally feel as though you can't keep your eyelids open any longer take the drapery cord and close the curtain so that you won't be disturbed when the sun rises in the morning. If you sleep until 8, 9 or 10 am you will still have plenty of day time left to wear yourself out doing fun things and you won't have any trouble falling asleep when it is bedtime.

Sweet Dreams!
