Is it possible to have OCD before an eating disorder and so it leads to one?!

Question:

Is it possible to have OCD before an eating disorder and so it leads to one?

I have read up on symtoms and information on both Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anorexia and other eating disorders and all the sites say of course that ED's can be connected with depression and OCD. Which comes first, is there any set path to an eating disorder like having the disorder and THEN OCD or can it be vice versa? See, I obsess over food. Obsessive in the OCD means you can't control the thoughts, even if you don't want to think of them you can't stop and that is my issue with food. I don't know when it started but I can't get out of it. I think about how many calories things have and if I eat this I'll have to work out this much harder, etc. etc. So, can being just obsessed with these thoughts lead to an ED or do you usually have an ED first, just a little confused on how they are connected.

Answers:

Its possible that they both stem from the same issue. OCD I would think comes first because they believe its genetic. However, those symptoms could only be anorexia and not OCD. I would ask a doctor.
