Emergency rooms???!

Question:

Emergency rooms???

I can't afford a psychiatrist right now. . .but I can afford meds. . .if you go to the emergency room, would the doc on the mental health floor help you out?? Thanks a lot. . .I mean, help with a perscription. . thanks again.

Answers:

If you go to the ER, they might admit you under the Tarasoff Rule that if you indicate that you might harm yourself or others, they would have to admit you on a 72-hour hold. If you have a clinic or Urgent Care, they could refer you to someone who could help. Anxiety (temporary) might get you some anti-anxiety meds, but you don't say what's wrong. If you feel you need a psychiatrist, the hospital in your area can refer you to one who can treat you on a sliding scale - only charge what you can afford to pay. Good luck!
