How do you deal with the past?!

Question:

How do you deal with the past?

I had something happen to me when I was younger that had an impact so great on me that I have PTSD. (No, I was not a muslim at that time, so please be serious and not hate filled for one moment if you are capable). I have started remembering the blank spots somewhat that I had blocked out and am having a really hard time getting past that. A weapon is involved and this just keep flashing in my mind. I've spoken with my husband about this and he's been so great and patient with me. But I still feel like I can't really say anymore than what I remembered. It's like I'm afraid to say more. How do you deal with these issues?

Answers:

I went to a therapist and through the experience of sharing about what happened to me, I discovered the best way for me to work through my memories. And that is writing. I am currently writing a book about what happened to me. It has been healing and revealing all at once. And throughout the entire process of writing I've found my path to healing.

I suffered abuse in which weapons were used too. You can heal too by finding just one other person who will listen to you, not judge you, who will be open-minded and give you the support and kind heart which a therapist would give you.

Although it is difficult to find one person like that, it isn't impossible. It's best that the person NOT be related to you.
