How can I stop wallowing in self pity and get on with life?!

Question:

How can I stop wallowing in self pity and get on with life?

I cry almost every night. I don't want to do anything productive at all. I ignore my friends' calls. I drink coffee and eat a bagel during the whole day. I can't sleep at regular times. I stay awake until 4 a.m., even when I'm exhausted. I sleep in the daytime for 2-3 hours. I have no incentive to do anything. I feel worthless and not good enough for anyone/thing. Sometimes, (rarely), I'll have this sudden burst of hope/happiness, but it quickly goes away, leaving me with the same feelings. I know I have a lot to be grateful for, but I just can't shake this off. Why can't I just be happy/content with what I have? What do I do? I'm so confused...please help!

Answers:

your story sounds similar to mine.i would see a doctor and fill out some depressions quizzes. it sounds like you may have depression and you might be bipolar, but only a doctor can determine that.

anyways what i did to help myself out was to set short term goals that i could complete to make myself feel proud of myself. it could be something as easy as cleaning your room. or doing something youve always wanted to do. i took about 2 months and just focused on myself and tried to think why i felt so bad about myself. first i got my license. then i stopped drinking, then lost some weight. and stopped hanging around my old friends who were really bringing me down with them. then i filled out some applications and set up job interviews.

i think the best advice i can give you is look at yourself and ask why you feel this way? what brings you down? then try and change those things the best you can. sometimes you just feel depressed and down for no reason at all because your brain is lacking chemicals. this is why you should see a doctor. and dont be afraid to go because he will understand and help you. i hope i helped!! feel better!!!!!
