Living with Bi-Polar Disorder?!

Question:

Living with Bi-Polar Disorder?

I have bi-polar disorder and ten days ago I had surgery for my gall bladder. Because of the tests I had to do I couldn't drink any water so they wouldn't allow me my meds. I was also out of state at the time so I haven't seen my doctor yet. They are taking me in on Monday but it's been long and I'm worried about the sores. Also I'm in a major funk today and have been crying all day. I hate feeling like this. I'm out of the meds and I can't get new ones until Monday or later. I feel like I'm going out of my mind. I can't deal with the mood swings...this isn't the first time it happened. I have mood swings all the time. I don't know how to deal with them though. Monday seems like it's so far away. Any suggestions on how to deal until Monday?

Answers:

First of all, let me say that I feel your pain. I also suffer with this as well.

Secondly, because you were not able to take your meds there for a while that will throw you into a funk. Also given that you had surgery, that also messes with moods stability as well. Do things to occupy yourself. I You may even be limited on what you can do since you are healing from your surgery, so sleeping and resting will also pass away the time. Even though my moods tend to shift when I have missed my meds, I tend to try and be around those I care about so they can help me as well. It tends to make me feel better. So try and be around those you care about and let them know that your moods may shift, but they should understand and help you get through these next few days.

Good luck.
