Compulsive obsesive disorder?

I'm married and moved away from home but found out my little brother has obsesive compulsive disorder - he's 12 yo and can't stop washing his hands and has showers every 20-30minutes. My grandmother went around there today to take him out for lunch and he had a fit my mother had to come home from work. He can't stand anyone being in the house other than my mum and older brother. He won't leave the house either mum tried to drag him out one day to get him over it but he had a panik attack and passed out and knocked out parts of his front teeth. I'm not just looking for excuses but my mother is a nasty person, fostered him out regulary, and told him she should have had an abortion and didn't want him etc. etc. I'm just wondering if my brother has finally cracked and that it could have been PART of the reason for this disorder. I have been reading about it but don't really know exactly what causes it. Can anyone help??

not only does your little brother seem to have OCD he seems to have anxiety in regards to your mum and brother being the only ones in the house. OCD occurs when someone develops a habit after having an incident happens to them. just for example, a rape victim may obsessively wash as they feel dirty for being raped. but in some cases it happens for no reason. perhaps your mothers behaviour has caused your brother to associate those feelings with washing. i hope this makes sense.
