Notice I said "demonically". by that I mean not in the blood system, not in the genes - can it be demonic?

Yes, it can be caused by demons. One does not have to be possessed to have demonic spirits following them around and whispering in their ears, etc. There is a difference between being possessed and having demonic spirits in your life and/or in your home.
