Why does the thought ' I am going to die soon' keeps popping up in my head?!

Question:

Why does the thought ' I am going to die soon' keeps popping up in my head?

I work 30 hours a week no problem, in fact it is probably my salvation.I should have retired 2 years ago but I have a partner,of 10 years who doesn't work, therefore I need to keep earning to pay bills etcetera. Unfortunately, I drink too much, and so does he,but it is the only way I can cope with my situation.
I am having health problems with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and I am supposed to have an ASAP appointment with the hospital about my right eye.
My problem is I have so many negative thoughts about life, in fact, my whole life is negative. I cannot see any good, I cannot be thankful for what I have ( I own my own house ,bought and paid for) My partner loves me, we have a gorgeous rescue dog but,we never go anywhere or do anything. We moved here 3 years ago, don't have a circle of friends and never socialise.
It's go to work, come home, drink, go to bed, get up go to work repeated. I know it's up to ME to change things but I have no Motivation. Please help!

Wow, Susie Q. I had no idea....about the only constructive thing that I can suggest is to change everything.

You say that you own your own home outright, which is wonderful, but that you have no friends in the neighbourhood.

And your life is depressing both you and your partner to the point where you both drink too much to anaesthetize you from reality.

This is not good.

You need to actively seek friends. Find things that you are interested in doing, and make yourself DO THEM. Get yourself away from the house (where you are depressed), and away from the drink (which only makes the depression worse), and find those reasons for living again.

Once you are out and about living life and enjoying it, your partner just may be motivated to get out there and join you, or find his own pursuits.

Walk that dog. Maybe get involved with a rescue association that has field trials, and get your dog involved in competing in those?

Just basically pursue life again, and find any enjoyment you can out of it, that does not include mind altering alcohol or drugs.

Good luck Susie Q. The motivation really does need to come from within yourself, too, you know.
